I saw a similar card online and fell in love with the “graphicness” off it. Cohesive stripes in all different directions but work together. I thought this would be a perfect card for Club Class (and I was right). I had plenty of the Sale-a-Bration Hand Penned paper left over which is why I chose to do the card in black & white. As it turns out, I really like the black & white combination. I think the card would work well with all sorts of colors and patterns. But not too many colors or patterns. You don’t want the card to get over busy. Limit your color palette to just a few colors and patterns. A dark background color & card base will work well too, helping it pull all together. Enjoy my video on my black & white quilting card. It’s a great strip technique.

Measurements
- Each strip is 1″ thick, of various lengths.
- Card base, 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
- Layer to glue strips to, 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ (or you could do 5-1/4″ x 4 if you are going to flip over and cut the overlapping strips with scissors).
There are so many versions of a strip card (some call them scrappy stripy cards). I listed just three of them here. I would love to hear your feedback about this quilting strip technique, please be sure to leave them in the comments below.
2024 Update – this card and tutorial has been viewed so many times and has received such great feedback that I felt I needed to create an updated version.
