Season-to-Season Wreath is a Winner

By | October 17, 2015

Last night my mom and a friend came to my house and we put our Season-to-Season Wreaths together (this is a project kit from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog).  Not only did we have a fun time together, but we made beautiful home decorations that will last for at least three seasons (Halloween, Autumn and Christmas).  And, if we want to be just a little more creative, we can easily make the wreaths last more seasons (if we create garlands for the snow, Valentine’s day, Easter, Spring, and the 4th of July).

My mom sent me this photo today of her wreath displayed in her kitchen.  I think it looks beautiful.

You too can make this wreath for your own home.  All you need is the Season-to-Season Wreath Project Kit #139645 $27, Cheer All Year Stamp Set #139839 $25 and Ink Colors: Basic Black, Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive.Snip20150908_32

Or, you can gather some girlfriends together for a private class and I’ll bring all the supplies to you and you each just pay $35 for the kit/class.  All we need to do is pick a date.

Spook-tacular Class

By | September 27, 2015

Friday night we make these terrific “Witching Hat” Centerpieces from a kit in the Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up!  We followed right along with a video posted by Stampin’ Up! that gave us step-by-step directions (I usually make my project ahead of time but wanted to be a student this time too).  Here is a photo of us during the assembly:Snip20150927_3Don’t we all look like we are having fun?  We definitely did!  Here’s a photo of the completed hats:Snip20150927_4Now for the bad news:  The Witching Hat kit is no longer available – it was such a popular product kit that it sold out.

The good news:  The kits for the Season-to-Season Wreath and Christmas tags are STILL available – so you better sign up now for the class before they too may sell out.

Season-to-Season Wreath Class – Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10 am and Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 pm.  $35.  RSVP by October 1 (so that I can order the kits in time for class).

Christmas/Holiday Tags Class – Friday, Dec. 11 at 10 am and 7 pm.  $28 for 30 tags.  I will have festive treats to munch on.  RSVP by Nov. 28 (so that I can order the kits in time for class).

Since it was the beginning of Fall this week, I treated the Witching Hat class-goers to a special fall treat:

Snip20150925_1The stamping was done from the Cheer All Year stamp set that coordinates with the Season-to-Season Wreath kit. Yum!

Don’t forget to RSVP for class!

Do More of What Makes You Happy

By | August 19, 2015

What makes you happy?

I love this card because it truly is “the little things” that matter.  I saw this design on Pinterest (Pinterest makes me happy) and I made a few little changes.  I can’t always reproduce a card exactly as I see it, but I can use the supplies that I have and create a similar look.

The background stripes are made with freehand strokes from an Aqua Painter.  One aspect that I did copy from the original design was the order of the colors – do you notice that they are not in a predictable pattern?  Who says we need to always follow a pattern.  In case you are curious, the colors I used are Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz.

I made multiples of this card because it really came together quite quickly.  It’s always good to have extra cards on hand and I think this one would suit many occasions.

Snip20150819_2Supplies for this card are:

Whisper White Thick card stock

Aqua Painters

Inks, Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz

Scraps of Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Bermuda Bay card stock for the heart, Kraft Corrugated Paper, Basic Rhinestone Jewels and the flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.

Think ahead to Christmas and check the cards off your list

By | July 30, 2015

Towards the end of every December I wish that I took the time (when I had some free time in the summer) to prepare better for Christmas.  I wish I could create more decorations, gift packaging, goodies, etc.  Pinterest is full of ideas I always want to do, but realize I don’t have time to do when the calendar says Dec. 20.  Mailing Christmas cards is the same thing.  Do you wish you had some beautiful, handmade cards to send to those special in your lives instead of those boring box set cards?

I have the answer.  Come to my Christmas card class!  I host Christmas card classes each month from July to October.  You can make either 6 cards for $20 or 12 cards for $30 at each class.  If you attend a few of the classes, you’ll find that you have many cards waiting to be mailed in December.

Here’s what we are making for the August Christmas card class:

Snip20150726_3These cards are all made with the Wonderous Wreath Bundle
(Wonderous Wreath photopolymer stamp set and Wonderous Wreath Framelits Dies).  I love this set because you can create your wreath to be any style (and it doesn’t even have to be a Christmas wreath).  I made this card for my mother’s July birthday using the same set:Snip20150730_17Those flowers on the wreath come with the set and are supposed to be poinsettia flowers, but you can make them any color flower with a different ink color.  There are endless examples on Pinterest using this Wonderous Wreath bundle.

If you don’t live in the South Shore area and can’t attend a class, you can still make these cards if you purchase The Wonderous Wreath stamp set and Framelit bundle, which is only $43.25.  You can order it right here.  Of course, you’ll need a Big Shot and some coordinating papers and ink to make the cards, but anything worth making is worth the investment in the right tools.  Right??  If you need any help with ordering supplies, please let me know.

Watermelon Wonder

By | June 24, 2015

It’s officially Summertime.  Finally!  After the winter (and all the endless snow) we had this year, Summer couldn’t come soon enough.  I love the smell of fresh picked basil, the sandal tan on my feet, blue hydrangeas growing in the yard, ice cream for dinner and watermelon at cookouts.  Speaking of watermelon, I found this cute watermelon card on Pinterest:Snip20150622_5I love the hardwood table and the “Sweet” bite.  I used this card as my inspiration and designed my own version:Snip20150624_10I kept the hardwood background, using the new Tip, Top Taupe paper and ink because I liked how the neutral (but not boring) background lets the watermelon shine.  I wasn’t able to duplicate the bite because my layers were too thick for my punch, so I just left the slice deliciously whole.  A folded paper doilies becomes a napkin and textured watermelon layers is easy by using two embossing folders and my trusty Big Shot.  How about those seeds?  I used the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and cut it in half.  Pretty sweet!  This card is sure to bring someone a smile.

The Comment Section Now Works!

By | June 17, 2015

I have to admit that I have been a little frustrated lately.  Each time I visit this/my site, I see “0 Comments” under my headline.  Day after day after day.  I sometimes wonder if anyone is ever visiting besides me.  Well, the other day I decided to comment on my own post to turn that zero into a one.  And do you know what?  It wouldn’t let me leave a comment!  At first I was a bit relieved because if I couldn’t leave a comment, then no one could even if they tried to.  That relief soon turned into panic because I realized I had to fix this problem.  You know the saying there is no handbook when you become a parent?  Well, creating your own website is kind of the same thing.  Anyone can do it, but not everyone knows how to do it well.  My talent is in paper, not technology.  I asked a few people and then asked a few more, posted questions online, wrote to the creator of my blog theme, blah blah blah.  To make a long story short, I think I fixed the problem. All I needed to do was check off the comments box when creating my posts.  Sounded easy enough.  The key was to find that box.  After searching in unfamiliar territory, I found the box – not in an obvious place, but I found it none-the-less.

So, I invite you to leave a comment, ask a question, give a complement, make a suggestion or even just say hello.  Let me know you are visiting my site!  All you need to do (now) is click on the word “Comments” under my headline and you should be able to leave one.  And, I’ll write back!

Thank you for your patience.

Do What You Love and Love What You Do

By | June 16, 2015

Have you heard that saying before?  It’s the “Life is Good” motto.  I try to incorporate it into my life whenever I can.  Too many times we are rushing around just getting things done (food shopping, cleaning, chauffeuring the kids, etc.).  But it’s really important that we include fun things in our days too – even if it’s only for a half hour.  We are better and happier people if we do something that makes us happy each day.  I love to bake, garden, watch my kids at swimming & softball, walk and of course create.

Stampin’ Up! provides me many opportunities to be happy.  I love using their products because they are top quality, color coordinated, on trend, and inspirational.  I am happy creating a card or gift, and mailing it to someone (hoping it makes them happy too).    One of my favorite things to do is teach classes.  Not only do I get to share my creativity, teach fun techniques, introduce someone new to a whole new world, make a little money, but I also get to be with really nice people.  I am fortunate to lead a growing team of people (again, really nice people) just like you who decided that they too want to be part of the Stampin’ Up! family (for all different types of reasons).  We get together once a month, share ideas, create,  inspire each other, chat, get excited over all sorts of little things, and be happy together.  For those on the team who aren’t able to meet, we share together via email and a Facebook group.  We are all connected and supported.

For the month of June, Stampin’ Up! is offering an additional incentive to join their family.  Choose two additional stamp sets with the purchase of your Starter Kit.  A Starter Kit is a great deal in and of itself (choose any $125 worth of products and pay only $99 plus free shipping), but now you get to choose two more stamps sets for free.

Speaking of mottos, Stampin’ Up!’s motto is Create, Inspire, Share.  As you can see from above, I am able to live their motto very easily and am very happy doing it.  I invite you to think about joining my team.  There is no risk, complete flexibility and potential to (fill in your blank).  Remember, do what you love and love what you do (and I hope that includes Stampin’ Up!).Snip20150616_1

Summer Fest

By | June 14, 2015

Yesterday our town held it’s first (and I hope annual) Summer Fest.  We were blessed with warm & sunny weather (despite the early predictions of thunder storms).  It seemed as if everyone from our town and surrounding towns were there – and they were all HAPPY.  I didn’t hear any crying babies, no whining toddlers, no grumpy teenagers and no too-much-to-drink adults.  It truly was a spectacular day.  I had a booth set up right in front of the fire department.

Snip20150614_8If you are looking to purchase a card (I have cards for all occasions – Graduation, Father’s Day, Get Well, Birthday, Thank You, Sympathy, etc.), they are $4.50 which includes MA sales tax.  Just let me know what style you are looking for and I can email you a few images.

Check out my new Paper Pumpkin sign – I am really pleased with it and it caught a few eyes and questions.  I just love Paper Pumpkin and know you will too.  You can subscribe to Paper Pumpkin monthly, or for a pre-paid amount of time – 3, 6, or 12 months.  Interested?  Leave a comment and I’ll help you with the right subscription for you.

Welcome back!  Last week I showcased some cards with the new You’ve Got this stamp set and I mentioned I would share some photos of the beautiful peonies growing in my yard.  I can’t believe how tall they are – next year I need a taller frame to keep them from falling over.

Snip20150611_4You can even see a close up of an ant!

Snip20150611_3I couldn’t leave this post without sharing a card, here’s one more from You’ve Got This:

Coordination is Key!

By | June 9, 2015

This weekend I hosted my Catalog Kick-off Party which was great – thank you to everyone who came!  We created with the new colors and products, did a little shopping and eating, and everyone had a great time and went home with a party favor and cards/projects that they made.  Turns out, three of them showed up (unknowingly) wearing some of the new In colors:Snip20150609_4Do you see Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush?  Oh, the things that make us happy… it was a hoot!

Here are some of the projects they got to make:
Snip20150609_11The new Build a Birthday set and coordinating Cherry on Top Washi tape

Snip20150609_9They each got to create with the May Paper Pumpkin kitSnip20150609_15The bookmark showcases each of the new In colors, the coordinating lace ribbon and the Layered Letters Alphabet set.  Do you see this lovely flower on the Tip Top Taupe tag?  It’s made with the new Cotton Paper which is so easy to work with (much better than tissue paper and of course it coordinates with everything Stampin’ Up!).

Each guest got to choose the color they wanted for this card showcasing three new products:  the new colors, the You’ve Got This stamp set and the new envelope paper.  This thin text-weight paper is great for making envelopes with the envelope board – it doesn’t tear!

Personalized Birthday Card

By | June 5, 2015

Today is my niece’s 7th birthday and I had fun playing with new products to make her a special, personalized card.  I used the pedestal from the Build a Birthday stamp set in pool party ink, a polka-dotted layer with the Cherry On Top Washi Tape, her name with the Layered Letters Alphabet in the new Watermelon Wonder ink, a Bermuda Bay “happy birthday” from the And Many More stamp set topped off with the Crushed Curry flags from Build a Birthday.  The base card stock is Watermelon Wonder (one of my new favorites).  I was pretty excited at the result, what do you think?

You’ve Got This!

By | June 3, 2015

The sun came out this afternoon, so I just snuck outside with my camera and cards to take some photos before the clouds came back out.  We desperately needed the rain, so no complaints here.  My flowers and veggies look much happier today than they did a few days ago.

You’ve Got This” is a new stamp set that I am completely falling in love with.  There is a large flower stamp (and if I had to guess, it would be a peony) that lends itself to both coloring and non-coloring.  I’ll have to share some photos of my peonies in a few days, the buds are just starting to open and they are just going to be spectacular.  Also in the set is a large background stamp with hatch markings (you’ll see) that is sure to give some great texture.  Three sentiments with a trendy new script “Good things are going to happen”, “I’m here for you” and “You’ve got this”.  Snip20150603_19

Isn’t the flower beautiful?  I cased these cards from Pinterest with a few changes of my own.  I love how the flower is embossed in white instead of the usual black.  Gives it a much softer look.  I used my aqua painters to color within the lines.  Easy.Snip20150603_17This color combination reminds me of a 50’s diner – so much fun.  Just a little outline with my markers gives this flower the right amount of color.

As you can see, this stamp set is very versatile and is going to become a must have on your wish list.  Lucky for you, it is now available!Snip20150603_26

Wood set #139572 $39.  Clear set #139575 $28.  Suggested clear blocks c, e.

Let me know what you think – do you like the soft look of the pale pink, or the graphic design of the blue & black?
