Creating a Vintage Look Using the Perennial Postage Bundle

If you’re into card making (and you wouldn’t be reading this blog post if you weren’t), then I bet you love taking one idea and turning it into your own version. That’s exactly what I did with this card. I saw a card on page 22 of the Stampin’ Up! 2024 Occasions Catalog, liked certain elements of it and then made my own version. The Perennial Lavender Collection has unlimited possibilities for us card makers because it has all that you will ever need: interesting shapes, versatile phrases and flowers. For this post, I will show you my version of the Perennial Postage Vintage Postcard Card, found in part of that collection.

Perennial Postage Inspiration Card

This is the card I saw in the catalog that I really liked. I liked the vintage and postcard feel, but didn’t have the Painted Lavender bundle #162597 to make an exact copy. The part of the card I liked the most and the part I wanted to copy, was the butterfly postage “cancellation” image. I knew I could replicate this element because I did have the Perennial Postage bundle #162608. This butterfly postage “cancellation” is actually a die, not a stamp (but you can use it as a stamp and I show you how in the video tutorial).

My Perennial Postage Postcard Version

I think my Perennial Postage Postcard Card version has the same vibe as the inspiration card. but also it’s own unique look. For one, I used completely different color scheme than the purple version. My version has soft blue tones with a pop of the complimentary Wild Wheat. I also angled the postcard and added a center line that resembles a real postcard. A simple score line makes an impactful difference. Lastly, a bit of texture is created with the addition of Linen Thread #104199 (one of my all-time favorite embellishments).

To see how I created this card, with tips on softening the edges with a Blending Brush and stamping the butterfly “cancellation” image, please watch my video.
