For those of us who live in the US, the 4th of July is tomorrow. Cookouts, beach, mini-golf, fireworks are just some of the usual traditions. Even if you don’t celebrate Independence Day, these striped cards are easy to reproduce and customize. All you need to do is change the colors and cut outs for the middle. This card is an easy template to replicate and reproduce (and use up scraps).
This is a very classic nautical looking card. I used this card as a birthday card for a navy & white loving stamper last month. The anchor comes from the Smooth Sailing die set. Choose your favorite colored foil paper for the anchor – copper or gold (silver or brass if you still have them).
All you need are 5 stripes. 3/4″ x 4-1/4″ and a central focus. I used the Layering Circles dies and the anchor and stars.
I recommend adhering the top and bottom stripe first, then you can eyeball the middle stripe and then center the remaining two.
These stars are from a new die set I purchased. The Give it a Whirl dies are designed to make spinner cards (whoo hoo). But, there are so many other really cool dies that come in the set: clouds, stars, hearts, arrows and label shapes that you can use for all sorts of reasons. Can you see the possibilities of non-spinner card options? I’m looking forward to using these dies this summer (and of course will share with you).
I have one more striped Red, White and Blue striped card to show you. This one is inspired by our traditional 4th of July ice cream we get at Sundae School on Cape Cod. They make a Red, White & Blue ice cream sundae (vanilla ice cream, blueberry sauce and a cherry on top) that is a hug hit. We love going there each year and am looking forward to our next visit – we weren’t able to go last year.
