Easy 4th of July Hostess Gift

Are you going to a 4th of July cookout or celebration?  Are you bringing your favorite potluck dish?  Don’t forget to bring a little something for your hostess, she/he will be delighted.  Time might be tight to think of a little gift so close to the holiday, so I thought of one for you.  Dress up a plain gift bag with a red, white & blue gift tag.  I also threw in some hues of pinks and different shades of blue too.  Look around for different shaped punches or get creative with your scissors.4th of July project ideaI was trying to think of how I could get a fireworks effect with the tag and decided to use two shades of blue with my Daisy punch.  4th of July project ideaSo, so easy.  Put a bag of marshmallows, chocolate bars and a box of graham crackers inside the bag.  I like to choose the square shaped crackers so I don’t have to break the rectangles (I never break them evenly).  Your hostess can use these for future summer fun.4th of July project ideaHomemade cookies are also a great hostess gift.  Your host may need a sugary snack during clean up time.  The recipe for these butterscotch cookies is right on the back of the Toll House Butterscotch chips.  Yum!  For the tag, I used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, but you can easily cut a rectangle or use another shaped top.  Cut a few stripes of patriotic shades of card stock and tape them down to the tag base.  So very quick and easy.4th of July project ideaHere are three Patriotic tag samples and a coordinating card.  Look around your house to see what you have for card stock, punches, shapes & stamps.  In addition to the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, I used the new Delightful Tag Topper punch (which punches 3 different sizes).  I didn’t have any patriotic stamps, but I think I made what I have work pretty well.  Train your eyes to  look at your own stamps differently.  I used different shades of blue, reds, pinks and white.  The striped pattern paper is from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.masking stampsUse a post-it note to help you customize your stamping.  I didn’t want the “you” to appear on the card, so I placed a post-it note down to catch the inked “you”.  The  “Hooray” & “Let’s Celebrate You” stamp are found in the Broadway Birthday stamp set, the set that everyone received and used for the Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser class in May.
I hope this quick and easy patriotic gift idea is helpful to you!  Happy 4th of July!!!!

Spread the love!
