My household is very fond of baking. We love to bake for ourselves and we love to bake for others. But sometimes, I don’t have time to bake as a gift. I came up with another idea that can be made ahead of time (and not spoil). Today I am sharing how to make an easy Recipe Card Box to give as a gift, using the Apron of Love bundle. You can fill out the recipe cards with your own favorite recipes, or give the box with blank recipe cards. Or, do both and your recipient can write in their own favorites too. Either way, your recipient will have kind thoughts of you whenever they take out their recipes and bake.
How to Make a Recipe Card Box using the Apron of Love Bundle
Depending on how many recipe cards you want to include in your box, cut pieces of 8 1/2″ x 11″ thick white card stock into fours. Each sheet becomes 4 pieces of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. You could probably fit up to 32 cards in the box (but that’s a LOT of recipe cards). I used the Stampin’ Up!’s acetate card boxes. You get 10 boxes for $6.50.
I decorated each recipe card the same. A stamped “made with love” oven mitt on the right bottom corner and a cut out rolling pin & heart on the upper left. I used the stamps and coordinating framelits from the Apron of Love bundle.
Insert all of the recipe cards into the acetate box. Tie the box with a pretty ribbon (I used the Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon). To make the tag, stamp and cut the apron outline (I used Night of Navy ink to coordinate with the ribbon). Don’t forget the “I heart baking” label on the apron! Stamp an oven mitt on scrap white. Cut this as well as the apron pocket, rolling pin and neck strap with the Apron Builder Framelits. The neck strap works great for attaching the tag to the gingham ribbon. I also added a Whisper White Baker’s Twine bow to the corner of the apron. This Baker’s Twine is my go-to item in my studio and makes it way onto almost every project.
A Recipe to Include
I don’t think I could end this post talking about baking without sharing a recipe! This one is a recipe my friend Jackie gave me. The secret to it’s deliciousness is cooking the raisins ahead of time. This post definitely shares two of my loves – baking & stamping. My third, gardening, just didn’t seem to “mix” into these two today. If I can help you with any of the “ingredients” needed to make this easy recipe card box, please let me know. I encourage you to write comments at the end of this post too! Each of the products I used is highlighted, so you just have to click on it for it to show up.
This easy Recipe Card Box using the Apron of Love bundle is a great project to make for upcoming Mother’s day. How cute is this idea! Thanks for the recipe too!
Thanks Tracy! So glad you liked the box and recipe 🙂
