Depending on where you live and if you have school aged children, summer has already begun for you. Summer will begin on Thursday for my family (and we can’t wait). My son graduated high school two weeks ago and my daughter has 2 1/2 days left of middle school. She will be beginning high school in September. Time to celebrate!!! I thought a great way to kick off my summertime classes was with summer themed cards. Have you seen the new Magical Mermaids stamp set yet? It’s one of the many new stamp sets in the 2017/18 Annual Catalog. I couldn’t wait for mine to be delivered (I live only 7 miles from the ocean where these magical women swim). Mermaids are very popular here on the Atlantic coast (and they are also quite magical).
Magical Mermaid
It’s not always easy to capture the true look of a card on camera, so let me just tell you that both the underwater garden and beautiful mermaid are stamped on shimmer paper. Shimmer paper creates just a little mood of sparkly magic. The mermaid scales also received a dusting of the Wink of Stella glitter pen to make her shine even more. I can’t wait to create more with her and the companion stamps in the set.
Cool Treats & Celebrations Duo Folders
Who wouldn’t love to take a taste of these bright & cheery popsicles? Cool treats are a definite must for summertime fun (really, it’s an all year treat for us). I’ve heard that the most popular place for ice cream in the U.S. is in the Northeast. I have to agree. I’ve mentioned this before, but the new Lemon Lime Twist has been a favorite color of mine for years. I am beyond happy that Stampin’ Up! introduced it as one of their new In Colors. I don’t want to even think about it retiring in two years. I saw this layout on Pinterest and decided to change up the colors to these bright and cheery ones – I think the color names could almost be the flavors: Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and I’m changing the Tempting Turquoise (for this card anyways) to Bubblegum Blast.
Colorful Seasons
You can’t celebrate summer without a Fourth of July celebration. I am lucky enough to have a relative who lives on Cape Cod who we visit each year for the 4th. So much fun and Americana. These lounging deck chairs are perfect for the Cape (or anyone who really just wants to relax). I was able to get the pattern on the chairs by “kissing” my stamps together. I’ll need to do a video on this technique to show you (it’s super simple and really effective).
If you are interested in making these summer cards, be sure to RSVP and save your spot for class that is on Wednesday, June 21 at 9:30 am and 7 pm.
