Strip Cards with Adhesive Sheets

We’ve all probably made some version or two of a strip card.  Sometimes these types of cards have different names: patchwork, herringbone (depending on the pattern you create), quilting, strippy scrappy and so forth.  They all use varying sized strips of paper.  The papers can be all patterned, solid or a combination of the two.  I’ve made a few of these versions of these cards myself.  I have even made video tutorials and posted about them.  Recently, I came across another way of making a strip card that is super easy and less messy.  How many of us get glue stuck to our fingers when putting the glue on the thin strips?  Me!  The secret to this new way is to use adhesive sheets.  In the following video, I’ll show you how to make strip cards with Adhesive Sheets.

Strip card using adhesive sheets

For this card, I used the retired Sale-a-bration Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper.  You can use any paper.  It’s a great way of using up those scraps (we all keep scraps, right?).  Each strip is 1/2″ wide.  I also used a layer of Vellum behind the patchwork.  I thought it needed a buffer between the Polished Pink card base and Vellum seemed to do the trick.

What do you think?  Do you like the Adhesive Sheets method?  Despite being a little sticky, it’s definitely less messy than glueing down all the strips and then cutting them off (my scissors always seem to get sticky with the glue).

Adhesive Sheets are a very versatile tool in paper crafting.  They work great when using intricate dies with your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.  Stick the Adhesive Sheet to a piece of card stock first, then cut the card stock out with the dies.  Peel the backing off and stick to your project – much easier and less messy than glue.

Another Version of a Strip Card

This is another video I made last Fall with a different version of a Strip card:

You can read more details about this version on the post I wrote: https://mailsomethingpretty.com/black-white-quilting-card-another-strip-technique/

This is a great card to make for all level crafters.  The only tool you really need is a paper trimmer, to cut all those strips.  I would love to hear your thoughts about the Strip Cards with Adhesive Sheets, the second video or if you have another method you like better.  Type them in the comments section below.  Thanks!

Spread the love!
