I’ve been busy preparing kits for our town’s Council on Aging Spring card kits. The kits require a lot of cut outs for simple glueing assembly. As I was cutting butterflies and flowers on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, I noticed my machine was looking a bit “dusty”. Not from lack of use, but rather from lots of use. Tiny little paper fibers have collected on my machine and gave it a dusty look. I think it’s time to keep my machine clean with a little Spring cleaning!
See all the paper fibers on top? Time for a “spring” cleaning.
I used a microfiber cloth and cleaning spray I use for my computer & phone. I sprayed the cloth and then wiped down my machine. Top, sides, bottom, inside and rollers.
Don’t forget to wipe the slip pads on the bottom of your machine. Dust and paper scraps will stick to the pads and reduce the effectiveness of their sticking to the table.
Tip – I wrote the order number and purchase date of my machine in paint pen on the bottom of my machine. There is a 3 year warranty for the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and just in case something happens to it, I can find the information easily to give to Stampin’ Up!.
Well used vs. brand new plates. What a difference! Plates can’t be used forever, but you can lengthen their lifetime by rotating and flipping the plates after ever use (or every few uses). Here’s the link in case you want to have an extra set of plates on hand – Cutting Plates, #150815, $11.
Another way to help your plates stay flat (sometimes they like to warp) is store them in the machine. Sandwich all the plates together and crank them halfway through and leave them for a bit. The pressure of the machine will help keep them flat.
I wrote a post over the summer highlighting the new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Click here if you would like to see some of the machine highlights – https://mailsomethingpretty.com/new-die-cut-and-emboss-machine-is-available/
I also created a video showcasing some tips for using your machine:
If you don’t have one of these amazing machines, I highly suggest getting one. Rarely do I make a card without using it’s cutting or embossing feature – many times I use both for one card.

I hope this post was helpful in either keeping your machine clean. Happy Creating!
