I love sharing tips with you and this one is a good one (I think you’ll agree). You may think that I glued each little piece, one at a time onto the card front, but there is a much better way. I’ll show you how I created this striped border in the video tutorial. This happy “bee” day card was a card I designed for one of the April Club projects. It’s just so happy! Unfortunately, the Playful Alphabet dies I used for the B-E-E are now retired and unavailable. But, you could still make this card and put the cut out bee in place of the letters B-E-E. Or, just have it say “happy day”. Or, make a totally different card with a different colored border. This post and card tutorial is all about making a striped border.
The colors of the stripes are:
- Bumblebee (now retired, but you can use Crushed Curry)
- Daffodil Delight
- Very Vanilla
- Smokey Slate
- So Saffron
Supplies
- Honeybee Home Bundle, stamp set & dies

- Bumblebee or Crushed Curry Ink
- Playful Alphabet Dies (now retired)
- Sponge Daubers (to color the bees bottoms)

Video Tutorial
There are so many variations using B-E-E as a way of expressing sentiments. If you do a google search of “Bee Cards” you will see many examples.
Using this same striped border technique, I also created this winter/Christmas card:
You will see the similarities of the bee card. The border was created exactly in the same way. I used colors: Misty Moonlight (now retired), Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy, Gray Granite and Balmy Blue. I also used the (retired) Playful Alphabets dies to create the J-O-Y, but you could substitute with a larger snowflake or sentiment. The embossed snowflakes was made with the Wintery 3D Embossing Folder.
I hope you can see the possibilities of creating all sorts of themed cards using this striped border technique. I would love to see what you create using it. You can post your creations on my VIP Mail Something Pretty Facebook Page.
