Last weekend I hosted a Citrus stamp class and wanted to share the cards we made with you. We used the Lemon Zest stamp set and got a whole lot more than just lemons out of it. Change the ink color of the lemon slice to turn it into limes, oranges and grapefruits. The class was also a good excuse to try out some citrus recipes (my daughter and I went a little overboard baking) and we all enjoyed both sweet & tart treats.
I love how you can turn this one stamp into so many citrus slices just by changing the color. Used here: pumpkin pie, granny apple green, calypso coral, poppy parade, flirty flamingo, pineapple punch, lemon lime twist and you can use grapefruit grove too (not shown).
The Cards
Cut the whole slices into quarters simple by using your scissors.
I used a 1 3/4″ circle punch to “slice” the citrus halves. Turn that lemon into a naval orange simply by changing the color. Used here is pumpkin pie. Not much stamping here. Use the Lemon builder punch and a solid color of card stock. Used here is pineapple punch. So many food names of ink! This is the goody bag everyone received – citrus style! Lemon biscotti, orange tea, lemonade powder for the water and citrus colored sequins (tied with lemon lime twist ribbon).
Stamping
All cards were pre-cut and ready to assemble. Tracy made me a box of chocolates as a hostess gift. Super cute and so pink!Look at all those butterfly layers! She cut them with the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits dies.
The Food
Here are the citrus refreshments. We went a little crazy, but it was so much fun to tie the food together with the cards. We did make them bite sized. In case you were wondering: blood orange mini-macarons (yes, my daughter made them from scratch), grapefruit zest chocolate bites, margarita lime bars, chocolate covered clementines and lemon biscotti.
I love to put these events on and hope you can make the next one. It’s a great way to mix stamping, socializing and fun.
