Are you a paper hoarder? Are the Designer Series Papers just “too nice” to use? Do you save every scrap? If you answered yes to any of these three questions, then I am here to tell you to use your papers. They are doing no good sitting in your drawer or paper stack unseen. Below is a great template showing you how to use up those paper scraps and papers. I saw the Navy version of this card online and copied it exactly because I loved it. Not only did I love the crispness of the design, but it is a great template to use up paper scraps and mass produce multiple cards. Keep reading to see my other color versions and suggestions.
Do you see how this template is easy to replicate? Change the background color to match the papers you have. No large pieces of designer paper necessary. And, if you don’t have the stitched rectangle dies I used here, cut your own rectangles. The widths of the stitched rectangles are 1/2” and 7/8” and the lengths are 2-1/2″ and 2-7/8″. The soft embossed texture of the background is from the Soft Subtle embossing folder. As the name suggests, it’s a subtle texture so if you don’t have it, then you can omit it or use another folder.
For these other two cards, all I did was change up the paper colors to make them completely different. I used the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper with a Real Red card base and the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper with a Seaside Spray card base.
Depending on the paper you have, it can be a bold design or subtle. Happy or peaceful. Kid-friendly or grown up. You can also change the text to make it an any occasion card. This design is celebratory, using the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set (there’s also a “Let’s Celebrate You” in the Broadway Birthday stamp set that would work too). There are so many phrases to choose from from the many Stampin’ Up! stamp sets. All you need to do is adjust your rectangle to fit.
Have I convinced you to use this template to use up your paper scraps? At least your little bits? Not only will you make some great cards to have on hand, but you will begin to deplete your stash so you can buy the newest patterns without feeling guilty!
