Twice a year Stampin’ Up! puts on a spectacular event called OnStage. Prior to each event, they ask Demonstrators to apply to be Display Board Stampers (people who will make samples using new products to display and showcase for other demonstrators to photograph and be inspired by). I am lucky to have been chosen twice in the past for OnStage Local events, and hope to be chosen for this November’s 30th Anniversary OnStage Live event. Demonstrators from all around the world will be coming together in Orlando to celebrate Stampin’ Up!’s 30 years. This is going to be one fun celebration!!! I hope you enjoy my application.
Iced Tea Card
I had so much fun making this Iced Tea card. It has a tri-fold base with an inside diagonal pocket. I found individual iced tea bags at the grocery store and thought this card would be a great spin on the many tea bag cards that are floating around. I used the mason jar from the Jar of Love stamp set to create my iced tea glass and topped it off with a lemon wedge and mint leaves. It’s a perfect card and drink for summertime.
Mermaid Card
No matter if you live near the ocean as I do, or land locked, everyone loves mermaids. Mermaids are so magical, beautiful and mysterious. I tried to capture that mystery by showing only her tail, swimming among the swirly waves. I created the waves by heat embossing clear embossing powder and the Marbled Background stamp, on Bermuda Bay card stock. I used the scalloped die from the Seasonal Layers framelits to cut and layer the “waves”. The clear embossing powder creates both a darker hue of Bermuda Bay as well as creating a water look. The mermaid, from Magical Mermaid, is colored on Shimmery card stock using my Aqua painter and a few dabs of Bermuda Bay, Berry Burst, Calypso Coral, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ink colors.
Rustic Floral Card
This card style reminds me a little of Joanna Gaines from her HGTV show Fixer Upper. She is known for using “ship lap” on walls, which creates subtle texture. (I think she uses ship lap in every house she redesigns). I used this textured print from the Wood Textures designer series paper to create my own background texture. I also pulled in some real texture with the linen thread, burlap ribbon and pearlized doilies. Instead of just adding a bow with the linen thread, I pierced two holes through the entire front of the card and wove the thread back and forth to create a little binding. This card is not my usual style, but I am just in love with it. The Blends Markers make it so easy to add color and I really enjoyed coloring on top of the wood paper. I used the Calypso Coral and Old Olive combo packs with a little bit of Daffodil Delight in the center of the flower.
Bookmark – 3D Item
Everyone needs a pretty bookmark. I made a bunch of these bookmarks and gave them away to some of my customers, my neighbors and family as a little surprise in the mail. The Share What You Love Designer Series Paper is a perfect match to the Love What You Do stamp set. I filmed a video on how I made these bookmarks using the new, incredibly awesome Stamparatus. You can watch the video here. It highlights how the Stamparatus makes it so easy to stamp multiples.
Blueberry Lemon Bread – 3D Item
My daughter and I are a big bakers and I like to decorate my baked goods in pretty packaging when giving them away. I immediately thought of Lemon Blueberry Bread and Blueberry muffins when the new Blueberry Bushel color was released. The size of the tiered stitched shapes of the (available in August only) Stitched Seasons Framelits works perfectly for a loaf of bread. And of course I have the Apron of Love stamp set with the “made with love” stamp and gingham ribbon, which to me is synonymous with baking and homemade. Some people may think pairing the Night of Navy and Blueberry Bushel colors together may not work, but I think they coordinate well because of the contrasting pops of color accents: Granny Apple Green, Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick and the continuous neutral of Whisper White. I’m going to deliver this loaf of bread to my cousin tomorrow when I meet her newly born daughter for the first time.
Scrapbook page
I had fun creating this page, reflecting on my son’s first year as a Rook in the Corps of Cadets at Norwich University. That’s what scrapbooking is all about right, remembering and reflecting. It was not an easy year for him and his fellow “Rooks”, but he survived and is getting ready to return to his sophomore year, he’s even looking forward to it. Norwich is located in the Green Mountains of Vermont, so I used the wood patterns of the Nature’s Poem Designer paper and Rooted in Nature stamp set as a backdrop of my page. Since the page is a masculine one, I relied on the repetition and different heights of the evergreen trees to be the embellishments. The new colors Merry Merlot and Melody Mango cut with the Large Letters Framelits, may not be the school colors of Maroon and Gold, but I think they work out just as well and if you weren’t from Norwich you would never know they weren’t an exact match.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to apply to be an OnStage Display Board Stamper for this November’s OnStage Live event in Orlando. I love creating with Stampin’ Up! products and love to share what I create. I am so excited to register for the event tomorrow morning and look forward to celebrating 30 years of Stampin’ Up!.
