Inspiration can come from anywhere

On Fridays, I watch my niece after school  We call these Fiona Fridays and it’s such a delight to have a cute and energetic playmate.  Last week I picked her up from school and noticed she had on a fun shirt that reminded me of a butterfly die I have.  I asked her if I could take her photograph because I could turn her shirt into a card.Snip20160609_1Isn’t she cute?  She’s 7 in this photo, but turned 8 two days later.  I decided to turn my butterfly card idea into her birthday card.  Snip20160609_2I used permanent markers to color directly on my window sheets and then cut them out using my Circles Collection Framelits (these have been replaced by the Layering Circle Framelits Dies and mine just arrived last night).  Tip: punches do not punch a clean edge on window sheets so you need to use a Big Shot.  I used my paper-piercing tool to pierce a hole at the top of the circle and tied a knot with a piece of white bakers twine to copy the sewn on look (I really used a glue dot to stick the circle on the card).  I cut the Pumpkin Pie butterfly with my Butterflies Thinlits die.Snip20160609_3I think the card resembles her shirt really well.  When she opened her card she was all excited remembering me taking her picture.  I put that picture inside her card too so that everyone else could be in on our secret.  Keep your eyes open because inspiration is everywhere.

Spread the love!
