Global Design Project #042

A happy hello to everyone!  I’ve been away from my stamp studio for the last few weeks due to my husband’s surgery, but I am back and ready to get creative.  These Global Design Project challenges are a great way to get my fingers back in the ink.  This week’s challenge is a Sketch Challenge:Snip20160629_2No one has to follow the sketch exactly, just use it as a reference with a similar layout.  Here is my creation:Snip20160629_1I fell in love with this camera image from the hostess set Pun Intended at OnStage.  It’s such a classic camera and can be used in so many ways – even if the young ones don’t know what a camera is!  Of course, the puns included make it fun to use too.  It’s hard to see, but on the inside of the card says “snappy birthday”.

I am in love with the new Flirty Flamingo color and think it pairs so well with black and smoky slate.  A classic combination to go with a classic camera.  Of course, I had to shine it up a bit with the silver glimmer paper flash & stars.

Here are the dimensions of the card:

Base Smoky Slate: 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″

Front Black: 4″ x 2 1/2″

Black Strip: 1 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″

Flirty Flamingo Stripe Strip: 1″ x 11″, scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″

Tip:  When adhering the Z strip, adhere it to the back panel first, fold the card closed and then adhere to the front.  I found it easier to line up and reduce any chance of buckling, making it nice to fold and lay flat.

At OnStage, Dawn Griffith did a presentation on different style Z fold cards and the stamp set One Wild Ride she got to design for reaching one million dollars in sales (how awesome is that – both designing your own stamp set AND reaching one million dollars).  Here’s a photo of the card she made:Snip20160629_4There’s actually quite a lot of versatility with this Z fold design.  I can’t wait to try out some of the new images and papers from the new catalog.  I’m thinking it would make a great Christmas card (stay tuned).

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my challenge submission.  Be sure to check out everyone else’s too at www.globaldesignproject.com.
