Dinosaur cards using DinoRoar Designer Series Paper

The DinoRoar Designer Series Paper is full of fun Dino-mite images, patterns and colors.  It’s perfect for making cards, invitations, favors and memory pages for pre & school aged boys, girls and babies.  I don’t have the coordinating Dino Days stamp set, so I had to use my imagination while creating these fun and playful cards.  If you have people in your life who are really into dinosaurs, I definitely recommend purchasing the paper, stamp set and dies all together.   You can create a whole world of fun creatures for all sorts of occasions and holidays.  I made these dinosaur cards using the DinoRoar Designer Series Paper only.  All of related products are linked and shown at the bottom of this post to make it easy for you to order.Dinosaur cards & paperLet me go through the steps of how I created these simple & fun cards.

CuttingDinosaur cards & paper

There are dies that work with both the stamp set and paper, but I had to rely on my trusty scissors for “fussy cutting” since I don’t have the dies.  These are all the dinosaurs I was able to cut out of a half sheet of 12 x 12 paper.  A pretty good number.  Be sure use the dinosaurs that are on the edges of the paper too.  You can hide and tuck the missing bits (shown in cards below).

Cards

Dinosaur cards & paperThis was the first card I made.  A simple but fun & happy birthday card for a dinosaur fan.  The card base is Pretty Peacock, cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ (traditional size).  The first layer is Old Olive, cut 5″ x 3 3/4″ and the second layer is a piece of 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ dinosaur paper.   I used my Banner Triple Punch to make the banner edge shape in a 1″ wide strip of Pool Party and stamped the “Happy Birthday” in Pretty Peacock ink.  The “Happy Birthday” is found in the Perennial Birthday stamp set.

punching a 1/2" stripI punched a 1/2″ wide strip of Lovely Lipstick card stock to make the second layer of the greeting banner.  The Banner Triple Punch is designed to punch three widths: 1″, 1 1/2″ and 2″.  But, you can really punch many more sizes up to 2″.  I used a 1/2″ strip of Lovely Lipstick for my card.  All you need to do is center the strip in the middle of the two ridges and punch.

Dinosaur cards & paperThis next card is made with the always reliable Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes.  I repeatedly stamped “happy birthday” in Pretty Peacock, Lovely Lipstick, Mango Melody, Old Olive and Balmy Blue Inks.  The Simple Shammy was very helpful for quick stamp cleaning between colors.

If you are ever wondering what colors to use when using the Designer Series Paper packs, they are listed underneath the images starting on page 165 of the catalog.  The “happy birthday” stamp comes in the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set (this stamp set has 32 greeting stamps!).  Three cut-out dinosaurs complete the card.

No Stamping Cards

The next two cards are very similar, but use different background dinosaur paper.  No stamping at all on these cards, so they can be used for all sorts of occasions or reasons.  I encourage you to send a child some happy mail!

Dinosaur cards & paperDinosaur cards & paperRemember I told you not to discard the edge pieces of the dinosaurs?  These two cards use some of the edge pieces and I hid the straight cuts by layering the dinosaurs.  If you look closely you will see which ones are not completely there.

I’m going to find a little dinosaur fan to mail these fun cards to.  If you have a dinosaur enthusiast in your life, I recommend you order these DinoRoar products and they will be very happy.  You can create for them, or create with them.
