Easy Gift to Make & Give

The pages are turning quickly on the calendar and December 25 is not so many pages away.  Do you need a personal, homemade gift that is awesome and easy??  Give the gift of a plant, but personalize it with your own plant tag.  This summer, my aloe plant had several babies and the whole pot needed dividing.  My mind went straight to Christmas gifts.  They are non-caloric, practical (I use mine often because I tend to burn myself often in the kitchen) and they have the nice red & green color of Christmas.I purchased these small galvanized plant pots from Ikea (I think they were maybe $1 each) and came in red and silver.  I thought the red would look nice for Christmas.  I wrapped some jute twine around the pot a few times (to step it up a little) and inserted my own plant tag.I stamped and embossed my greeting with white embossing powder on black card stock, and then cut it out using a stitched oval Thinlit.  The “season of cheer” stamp came from the Watercolor Christmas stamp set (I used this set a whole lot this season).  I also cut a same sized oval in patterned paper (Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper).  Tape down a wooden skewer (trim to fit) on the patterned paper and add some dimensionals, and then your greeting.  You just made an instant, awesome plant tag.  I also added a few jingle bells with red twine.  Does the twine and mini-dimensionals look familiar?  They are leftovers from my October Paper Pumpkin kit (monthly Paper Pumpkin kits are really a great thing to get and also makes a great last minute gift*).As you can see in this photo, I have multiple aloe plants to give as gifts.  Feel free to head to your local nursery to purchase an aloe plant (or any other plant) to give as a gift if you don’t have aloe babies hanging around.  All you need to do is make your own tag.
